....but the other day I happened to see a commercial where that show was doing a fund-raiser for underprviledged kids from around the world...
Dad and I decided to tune in and watch, and we ended up greatly inspired, humbled and even heartbroken by some of what we saw...
Idol had enlisted the help of a great many big name stars to bring awareness to many issues from here in the USA and across the globe...
I was struck by the fact that so many people in the world don't have access to clean water....it said 1.1 BILLION people don't have access to clean water on a daily basis....
Overall, this show which normally doesn't impress me to much, got my kudo salute for raising money for Katrina victims in New Orleans, Aids victims in Africa and malaria victims in India...
The past couple of days I've spent in total reflection about the blessings I enjoy in this life in our country, and my awareness has been raised that so many others don't even have what I have..... people in other countrys are in so much worse conditions that we don't even think about it at all, because it's just so terrible we can't even hardly imagine it....
I spend alot of my time working a job at a hamburger joint, helping my elderly parents in our comfortable home, or striving for our next little vacation and worrying about 4.00 a gallon gas which seems just around the corner....
The problems in my world became so much smaller when I thought upon the daily struggles of so many poor, underpriviledged individuals on this planet....
Hats off to American Idol....the show which manufactures a star and which I've never heard one of them ever touch John Fogerty in actual talent....but they got Bono and a list of major stars the first night, and three Presidential candidates the next night, to help bring awareness to all of us about so many others who are in such great need from around the world that it boggles the mind....
