Posts: 204 (05/07/08 08:50:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Hey yall, To whomever saw American Idol last night on Fox TV, a huge mistake was made when one of the idol singers referred to the song she was going to do as Tina Turner's song, Proud Mary. Not one of the judges gave any acknowledgment nor recognition that the song was a John Fogerty song. Everyone went along with this "mistaken" statement from the idol contestant that the song was Tina Turner's. I tried querying American Idol's website and it is the most mixed up mess I've ever seen. No real place to send them an email for comments that I could find. Perhaps overlooked, but I don't think so. Anyway, I called the main Fox TV office in NY and left a voice mail about this and that I hoped that one of the judges tonight would make a statement giving John Fogerty the recognition for the song and that Tina Turner did one many versions of Proud Mary. I called 1-888-369-4762. It is a recording telling you to press this and press that. I chose Option 4 since it seemed the most applicable. Of course we need to help set the record straight about "PROUD MARY" and JOHN FOGERTY who deserves credit for writing the most perfect song in the known universe, so I'll spend some time trying to communicate this important message, Miss Darlene. I don't watch Idol these days; but it is a socially important music television show, one that I would love to see John Fogerty guest in, the same way Neil Diamond did a couple weeks back. His song catalogue trumps all. As it stands, many American Idol contestants try to get qualitfied for this show by singing, "Proud Mary" and if John were a featured artist, he would have to spend some time with the contestants, and I think this would be the best time for him to set the record straight for all time, to keep his musical legacy intact and to educate the masses about the truth behind our wonderful American Rock artists of all time. Don't worry about the truth - it always wins in the end. One thing that withstands all tests of time is the Truth - and it will always prevail in the end.

You know, it's only a brainless TV show and the contestants (I wouldn't consider any of them "performers") are as ignorant about who wrote the songs as they are on how to sing them the right way. I just think that we should let John know that under no circumstances should he EVER make a guest appearance on that show.

Whatever happened to the days when you actually had to EARN your way to the top. I loved what one comedian said, "Where else but in America do millions of people tune in for an hour each week to watch complete strangers sing karaoke?!" I am NOT one of those millions! I respect people like John way too much who actually paid their dues (can you say ten years worth?) to get where they are today and didn't do it with a fast track popularity and image contest like this. "And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin', Chasin' down a hoodoo there. Chasin' down a hoodoo there."

Errrr, not too many. The best those oiks can expect is a one record deal and then cleaning the toilets in McDonalds. I too, would be VERY worried if JF had ANYTHING to do with this show.

I paid a lot of John Fogerty tickets with it!!! I was on a talkshow on the local radio once looooooooooong time ago... with a few people... someone mentioned Proud Mary as one of her favorites and the dj went "yes, PM, one of Tina Turners best songs" and the advertisement block was there. I was shocked... I really went bazurk at the DJ and I guess I scared him cos first thing after the commercial break he said "Uhhh... one of our guests demands... uh... she said... ehhh.. Proud Mary is a Creedence Clearwater song written by John Fogerty" Everyone looked at me like I had something hanging on my nose. Sheesh. Miss Hoodoo

John hit them right between the eyes with the lyrics to 'It Ain't Right' so I guess he's not a fan of American Idol either. If anyone has seen the great Irish film 'The Commitments' from the early 90's, theres a great scene when they are auditioning for the band. A forerunner of what was to come later.

Its regualary introduced as their song without any mention of JCF but I suppose can you blame the media/public when it has been rammed down their throats over the years which is the same as Proud Mary. Its only the educated who know otherwise so my view is let them get on with it and let us who know JCF continue to enjoy
