Is that right, and what is the acoustic rythm guitar progression, also done in D tuning?

I am trying to figure out the guitar parts to this great tune, I have some tabs, and they mostly say to use Drop D tuning and it seems close, but the one video
I have (Austin CIty Limits) of this song live, looks like he is playing D tuning with mostly E chords.

I would recommend getting Best of Creedence Clearwater Revival Guitar Tab from Hal Leonard ISBN 142340680X
Tune your guitar down one whole step (from to high strings) D-G-C-F-A-D

Ah, I mean the Long Road Home DVD. The rythm guitar does not match the original CCR track very well. I just wanted to know the rythm guitar chords used in the
original CCR version. I use D tuning for several other songs already, so I am familiar with it.
If the book shows both guitars, I am all for it, but most I have seen are crap in these kinds of details written by piano players. |

Tune your guitar down one whole step (from to high strings) D-G-C-F-A-DIt's in dropped D! According to what JCF said in some interview, might have been Guitar Player. I haven't tried that song myself for a long time though. |

sorry. my two memory lapses created confusion. I meant CCRs Run THROUGH the Jungle and LRH DVD.
I tried it in D tuning (not Dropped D) and I think both guitars are done that way. The rythm I think is just playing Blackface E7, maybe a spook E7 on (C7 on 5th fret) occasionally. The tabs need adjusting from D to E, but it just as easy to play and lets you twang the punch notes better. I am sure that is how he is playing it on LRH DVD. |

I was listening to the original CCR version, pretty cool how through all the spooky stuff at the beginning the acoustic rythm guitar comes in on the fourth
beat, then double to the second and fourth, then doubles up again to the first, second, third, and fourth.
JCF was playing in D tuning a full step down on Black Beauty during the last US concert tour, I don't know if Billy was in dropped D. I am not talented enough to listen to a record and say "Guitar 1 is tuned down a full step played in key of D with E form chords, guitar 2 is in standard tuning key of D, guitar 3 is Dropped D tuning key of D. Hi....Run through the jungle is played in drop-D ,live.
Notice that JCF is using two black Custom's. One with covered pick up's and one with uncovered pick up's. Check the pictures from Australia. I belive one guitar is tuned one step down and the other in dop D. In the March issue of guitarplayer he says that he play it in drop D. Chriss |
