hey ck - just spent the weekend at Inner Harbor at the end of our two week east coast trip. stayed at the Pier 5 Hotel and went to the aquarium (w/new
Australian exhibit). saw the dolphin show, the 4-d show and watched them feed the sharks. we ate at Five Guys on the pier and i forget the sandwich place.
man, that civil war ship in the harbor is awesome.
also went to Charm City Cakes and ate at the crazy wonderful Paper Moon Diner around the corner- (featured on guy fieri's dives, diners and drive-ins.) baltimore's a great city but the four of us got hit up ALOT by panhandlers - mostly at inner harbor. whazzup w/that? didn't experience that in gettysburg or richmond or bethesda or even d.c. i didn't remember you lived there, ck, or we would have visited your store. |

I do live in Baltimore, I was just having some fun with Dennis and his "Rambunctious Boy" days.
The ship you referred to is the USS Constellation. Some say it is the sister ship to "Old Ironsides", others that it was a Civil War era ship. There are a lot of panhandlers in the Inner Harbor, mostly preying on tourists. By and large, they are relatively harmless. The big Baltimore crime scene is essentially black on black men fighting over drug territories in the 'hood. Sorry I missed you, post next time you come back this way. CK |

The USS Constellation saw duty on the Mediterranean Sea during the fight with Tripoli pirates circa 1804, among other service.

but it was fun learning about so many things on this trip. i loved reading about the little "powder monkeys" on the USS Constellation. can't
imagine being a mother in those times and sending your little 13 year old boy off to war on that ship.

My son who was with us is an avid runner/marathoner and i wish yall could have
met. he's moving from richmond to jersey shore for a year.
